Love More

Hi ,

It takes way more than saying “I love you” to have a healthy marriage.

What I’m about to say could make you feel uncomfortable if you’ve been hurt or disappointed by your partner. If so, my heart goes out to you and I can certainly understand where you’re coming from.

But, for a marriage to be happy and healthy, you will often times find yourself having to put your partner’s needs before your own.

This is the essence of compassionate love.

A marriage needs passion AND compassion.

So here are some simple and safe acts of love for your consideration:

The Home Cooked Meal
Cooking your partner’s favorite meal is an easy way to show how much you love them and care about their happiness.

The Love Kit (no, not that kind of kit...)
This is a collection of your partner’s favorite stuff.  Fill a special box with their favorite movies, music, chocolates, perfume, cologne - pretty much anything they love. It’s a great Valentine’s Day or anniversary gift.

Love Coupons
The great thing about love coupons is they don't cost too much. They can be redeemed for massages, breakfast in bed, a home cooked meal, a favorite dessert, etc. You get the idea. You may hand write them or use one of those fun templates online.

Lunch Date
If possible, try a lunch date. The kids are probably at school. You’ll have more energy and it's relatively easy. But treat it like a real date and avoid discussing what needs to be done at home. Enjoy this time together.

Home Spa
Spas are always fun but can cost a fortune. So create your own! Light some scented candles, play relaxing music, and use your bed as a massage table. After all, who wouldn’t want to come home to a relaxing ‘spa’ at the end of a grueling day at work?

If you want to actually enjoy your marriage, don’t be afraid to be the one who loves more.

Strive to do something special for your spouse often. Oh, and please don’t ever stop saying, I love you.
