You Can Have A Better Marriage

Published: Sat, 08/13/16

Hi ,

You can always have a better marriage even if you think
things
are pretty good because a healthy relationship is always growing.

Problem is people get comfortable, so they settle for less.

Another problem is that worry, stress and exhaustion eat away at your
relationship’s emotional cushion.

When this happens, it's super easy to get frustrated and fall into a
pattern of making things worse than they really are.

MARRIAGE TIP #1: TRADE “CRAZY” FOR CALM
Physical and emotional rest make everything better. That's why
happy couples trade pace for peace. They know they need
patience and energy to deal with the "stuff" that comes along.

MARRIAGE TIP #2: THE DARK SIDE OF SPONTANEITY
Spontaneity is fun. What isn't fun is when people say things
spontaneously that hurt. Maybe we should use a five-second rule,
like TV networks, giving ourselves time to think before we speak.

MARRIAGE TIP #3: THE TROUBLE WITH HONESTY
Honesty is “the best policy” except when it's blunt, raw

and abrasive.  Communicate with compassion. Be truthful
but use words that encourage, support and uplift.

MARRIAGE TIP #4: THE ATTACK OF THE PURPLE MONKEYS
Years ago someone played a game with me - instructed me to NOT

think about the purple monkey.

I couldn't get the purple monkey off my mind!

A purple monkey is anything that distracts you from making your
relationship with your spouse your highest priority.

Eliminate any distraction keeping you from having the life and
marriage you want before you have a big, hairy beast of a problem!

MARRIAGE TIP #5: THOUGHTS ON PROFESSIONAL HELP
Welcome professional marriage help when needed, especially if
you're rehashing the same old stuff.
But here’s the deal: find a
counselor who shares YOUR values and philosophy of marriage.

If your marriage counselor has been divorced five times and is
having issues with their current boyfriend or girlfriend, then
perhaps YOU should be giving THEM advice instead!

Lastly, to have a better marriage, perhaps all you really need is a
little bit more time together to begin enjoying your relationship on a
deeper level, or to get to know each another again.

Use these five marriage tips to start turning your marriage around so
you can enjoy a lifetime of love and happiness.

Until next time this is Mike & the Crew and we want you
to be mad about marriage!
