A.C.T to Start Saving Your Marriage

Published: Sat, 08/29/15

Hi ,

There are many healthy & happy marriages. And if you’re in one, great!
But if not, these three quick tips can make things better.

Tip #1 – Acknowledge.
If a problem exists, acknowledge it.

I get it - it's easy to ignore problems because you hope they'll take
care of themselves OR because the thought of confronting them is
too scary and painful.

It’s true - facing issues does hurt.

But ask yourself:  “Would I rather experience some pain over the next
few weeks or a whole lot of pain over the next several years?”

Tip #2- Commit.
Fully commit to making things better even if you must start alone.

Truth is, your spouse might feel stuck and not know even know how
to begin to make things better. So they might not be as committed as
you in the beginning.

That’s okay.

Start where you are with what you have: You.

Tip #3 – Transact.
Transact knowledge, awareness and understanding.

The word “transact” infers that you are exchanging productive information
through the communication process.

Communication is productive when it creates an opportunity for resolution.

Don't feel bad if you need help with this process. Find a marriage counselor
if you think it'd help.

Another thing: When seeing a marriage counselor, be prepared to hear things
you might not care to hear because no one is 100% blameless when it comes
to a troubled marriage.

(You’re not looking for someone who will take sides - you’re looking for someone
who will help heal wounds.)

Another option might be to consider attending a marriage seminar.

Many couples say that it was attending a marriage seminar that turned their
relationship around.

Gayle and I conduct Mad About Marriage seminars all across the country and
we would love to meet you at one. In fact, we are conducting five of them between
now and Thanksgiving. Here's our schedule:

At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself these two questions:

1) Do I really want to have a better marriage?
2) Am I willing to do what it takes to make things better?

If so, begin with these three tips A.C.T and you will have a marriage
that overflows with love and happiness sooner than you can imagine.

Until next time this is Mike & Gayle Tucker and we want you to
be mad about marriage!
