It’s Christmas next week. And here are a 17 gifts you will never regret giving to your spouse:
1) Take divorce (and
any threats) off the table if things aren’t going well.
2) Stop blaming.
3) Be responsible for your own life and mistakes.
4) Focus on how you can become a better person and
partner.
5) Be engaged. Give attention to any red flags that could be sources of conflict in your relationship such as:
- boredom
- broken trust
- poor communication
- infidelity
- emotional abuse
- addictions
- lack of sex
- lack of respect
- lack of love, warmth, connection, caring support
- compulsive behaviors
- lack of friendship
- lack of shared dreams
- lack of common goals
6) Access resources like therapists, counselors, seminars, books, support groups, whatever, to make progress with any red flags; either deal with the red flags or they will deal with you.
7) Be understanding.
8) Tame your ego.
9) Listen.
10) Be calm and courteous (don’t roll your eyes or exhale that way you do
when you’re frustrated with them).
11) Serve your spouse - do something to make their life better.
12) Share a random act of sensual intimacy even if they don’t deserve it.
13) Get rid of the idea that your spouse has to do something to earn or deserve a random act sensual intimacy from you.
14) Plan and enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner with your family where YOU say or do something to let each one know how wonderful and special they are to you.
15) Stop being judgmental.
16) Love unconditionally.
17) Be grateful for your marriage, and share appreciation for the person who chose to spend the rest of their life with you.
You will never regret giving these gifts to your spouse; they'll make your Christmas a little brighter, too!
So do something insanely remarkable this week by becoming Christmas instead of just doing Christmas; let your life show what Christmas is really all
about.
Until next time, this is Mike & Gayle Tucker and we want you to be mad about marriage!
