So many of the people I meet and talk to say how busy
they are, and how fast time has gone by this
year.
They are doing more with less. Life has become
a pressure cooker; and they feel overwhelmed.
It’s a situation that can be tough on your marriage.
So here are three tips to keep your sanity and enjoy your
marriage during the busy holiday season that's upon us:
1) Thou Shalt Not Take Each Other for Granted
Go out of your way to appreciate each other this
holiday season - maybe do something extra special
for each other.
2) Thou Shalt Not Take Advantage of Each Other.
Although some gender-specific roles remain, it takes mutual
cooperation and coordinated effort to juggle everything that
needs to be juggled.
You’re a team.
When you see something that needs to
be done, do it.
Pitching in is a demonstration of your commitment, love
and respect; it shows how much, or how little, you care.
According to studies, domestic chores are a source of
severe conflict between husbands and wives because
often times one spouse feels he or she does most of the work.
3. Thou Shalt Make Time For Each Other
It might just be a few minutes here or there, but make your
relationship a priority in the coming weeks; take care of
yourselves.
Don’t forget each other while remembering others.
You'll be so
busy taking care of everyone else’s needs
that you'll be tempted to forget about your own.
Making time for each other is essential.
It might be a good idea to set aside some time in your
calendars
right now to ensure that you’ll be able to enjoy each other this
holiday season.
The days ahead can either be joyful or burdensome. The choice
is
ours.
Until next time, this is Mike & Gayle Tucker and we want
you to be mad about marriage!
