Dear ,
Here are 7 quick tips for a happier marriage:
1. Give
your spouse your time and attention.
Strong and healthy marriages take work. The time and
attention you give your spouse is a reflection of how much
you value them and are commitment to them.
Are you investing enough of yourself into your marriage?
2. Focus on what's right with your spouse instead of what's
"wrong" with them.
Believe it or not, you get what you focus on. So if you want
a happier marriage then make it a habit to focus on your
spouse's positive traits and stop making it worse than it is.
3. Be kind
As obvious as it may seem, some married people aren't very
nice to their spouses - they're friendlier and nicer to their friends,
colleagues or even the pizza
delivery boy!
Go the extra mile for your spouse by treating them better than
anyone else in your life - and do it without expecting anything in
return.
4. Show appreciation
Your spouse loves feeling appreciated by you.
You won't believe the amount of joy and happiness a little
appreciation will bring to your marriage.
You could say, "I like your smile" or
"Dinner was great, thank you."
5. If you want something, ask!
You spouse can't read your mind so don't expect them to;
let your spouse know your needs and wants. Don't just drop
hints; communicate with them.
6. Don't judge
How often do you listen to your spouse without judging them
or getting
defensive?
Want a happy marriage? Be open to their thoughts and
suggestions. A healthy marriage cannot flourish in the
face of critical, judgmental, and defensive behavior.
7. Risk
How can you expect a better marriage if you are unwilling to
open your heart to your spouse?
People say they don't open their hearts because they don't
want to get hurt. But If you're not
going to use your heart then
why even have one?
Believe it or not, it is possible to be in a relationship and never
allow your spouse to penetrate your walls of defense. But that
only leads to loneliness and isolation.
If you want a better marriage, risk being vulnerable by
letting your spouse in.
These 7 tips won't
solve all your marriage problems, but they
will improve your relationship IF you practice them.
