Spirituality & Your Marriage

Published: Fri, 11/22/13

Hi there - it's Mike & Gayle,

What are your thoughts about spirituality in marriage?
Would you say it's a pretty important topic?

What about your children - how important is it to you for
them to grow
up with a solid spiritual foundation?  When
the day comes that they leave home, do you hope they
would choose to be involved
a local faith community group?

If you do, then consider this research.

According to researchers, children who are most likely
to attend church as adults, live in homes where both
parents attend regularly & LIVE their faith at home.

Children model what you do not what you say.

So if spirituality is important to you, then model it
for your kids. T
hey expect to see congruence between
your words and actions.

*** If you're nice, warm and friendly with your friends at
church, then they expect you to be nice, warm and
friendly at home.

If you are "spiritual" at church, then they expect you to
be spiritual at home.

This week, Gayle and I encourage you to be a spiritual
leader in your family.

What does it mean to be a spiritual leader in your home? Here
a few thoughts to get you started:

  • Lead out in family worship
  • Take your family to church regularly
  • Take your kids by the hand and pray with them
  • Take your spouse by the hand and pray for them, too
  • Share meals together and pray and thank God for His blessings
  • Volunteer in a mission project at home or abroad

What is the spiritual health of your home? And what is one thing you
can do in the coming days
to improve it?

You might start by taking a few minutes today to pray and seek
God's guidance. Start here. Follow
His leading. And everything will
be all right.

Until next week, this is Mike & Gayle Tucker and we want YOU
to be
Mad About Marriage!
