2 Tips For Fighting Less With Your Spouse

Published: Fri, 06/28/13

Wish you had less conflict with your spouse? Tired of all the
arguing and fighting? If so, then here are two reasons (of many)
why couples fight.

1) They constantly kick over hornets nests.

Here's what I mean.

Maybe you're a Republican and your spouse is a Democrat
(maybe it's the other way around). You already know from
experience how an "innocent" comment can mushroom into
a heated debate that quickly explodes into a full blown argument.

Avoid topics that trigger arguments.

Realize though that certain issues need to be worked through
and discussed even if they do
cause arguments.

If this is the case for you, then find a counselor to help
you and your spouse resolve your conflicts in a productive
way.

But in general, avoid topics that trigger fights.

2) The second reason couples fight is because they are bored.

I know it might not make a lot of sense, but there are
times when a bored husband or wife will pick a fight
with their spouse for no reason just to have a little
variety in their relationship because things have become
so dull and boring.

So, if you think you and your spouse are fighting a
little too much, then evaluate your marriage to see
if it has gotten too dull and boring because there
are WAY more fun ways to liven things up than fighting!

Bottom line? Your marriage doesn't have to have so
much conflict or so many fights if you just practice
these tips:

1) Avoid topics that trigger arguments
2) Seek marriage help to work through important issues
3) Intentionally add variety to your relationship
