Mike Tucker: Men

Men. They can drive you crazy, can't they?

Something that is sooooo obvious to a
woman can fly right over the head of
a man.

But let me share a little secret with you
about our species:

We love relationships.

We want strong marriages.

We care about our wives and want to
make them happy.

We want more than anything to have a healthy
and happy relationship with our wife that lasts.

We are not cavemen who lumber through
life pointing and grunting at things that we
want or amuse us.

Men are every bit as complex as women,
just different.

In fact, if you're a wife reading this, then
you should know that your spouse's
thought processes are quite different
than yours.

{Yes, there IS a thought process :-) }

This doesn't mean that either of you are
wrong. Just different.

If your marriage is in trouble, you and
your husband are processing the situation
differently.

And guess what? You will process solutions, and
ways of finding them, differently, too.

The classic approach to marriage problems
is to enlist the help of a marriage counselor.

Truth is, women are much more comfortable
with this solution than men.

Men are uncomfortable opening up about
their problems to a stranger.

So if your marriage is in trouble and you
can't seem to drag your husband to a
counselor, don't take it to mean that he
doesn't value your relationship.

There are other ways to get the marriage
help you need that are male-friendly.

This is so important that I wrote a blog
post today about the whole thing. You can
read it here:

A Man's Approach To Marriage Help

In the post, I give some examples of common
problems facing marriages today and ways of
finding solutions that men can get behind and
support.

You're in this together so you must work through
it together. This involves compromise.

I'm not saying you shouldn't see a counselor.
But it shouldn't be your only option either.

So, if you'd like an inside look at how your
man thinks, check out the blog post so you can
be mad about marriage again instead of just
being mad.

Until next time, this is Mike & Gayle Tucker.
