Hello ,
Here is one of my secrets for having
a happy marriage.
It's simple.
Easy.
And takes less than 25 seconds.
But the impact it has on my marriage
is absolutely profound. And I want to
share it with you today.
It's a sincere prayer that I pray often.
Instead of praying for God to change my
wife, I pray that He will change me.
I'm here to tell you that if more couples
prayed this prayer then there would be
far fewer divorces.
I pray for God to change me. And I ask
Him to help me see my wife through His
eyes - that He will enable me to see what
a wonderful treasure she is.
And then I thank him for her. I consider
my wife to be a gift from God.
How many times have you wished to
wave a magic wand and change your
spouse?
How many times have you seen their
faults, shortcomings and blemishes?
And how often do you feel that they
are more of a source of frustration
than a gift?
Most of us would never admit feeling or
thinking those things.
But if you're in a marital situation that is
less than satisfying, and you're sharing
your life with someone who has become
less than ideal in your eyes for whatever
reason, then please, please be a person
of grace - a source of grace to your spouse.
Start by praying for God to change you - to
make you more like Him.
Thank God for the beautiful qualities
and traits that you see in your mate.
And be grateful for the gift of your mate's
love - for the decision that he or she made
to share their life with you.
Shifting your focus in this way will
reshape your marriage.
That's one of my secrets for having
a happy and satisfying marriage.
And it's something you can do as soon
as you're finished reading this email.
Until next week, this is Mike Tucker, and
I'm mad about marriage!
P.S. Please share this tip with someone
you feel might be encouraged by it.
