What do you think, is marriage more spiritual or romantic?
According to research, husbands and wives who share the same spiritual values, have stronger, happier marriages.
Marriage is certainly romantic…but it’s deeply spiritual, too
Faith strengthens marriage. It deepens the bond between husband and wife. And It provides a unified perspective on
life.
Six Marital Benefits of Shared Faith
Solving marriage
problems
Spiritually unified couples draw hope and strength from their Higher Power during times of great difficulty.
Faith anchors their marriage and creates a point of reference when making important decisions and chasing dreams. Their faith also plays a major role in child rearing; parenting
is a common source of marital stress.
Defining roles in marriage
Deciding who is responsible for what is another common source of marital conflict. But for couples of faith, these decisions are easier because they are guided by similar beliefs and values.
Building the relationship
When a couple is actively engaged in their faith they will grow spiritually together, which results in a marriage that is growing too.
Way to Share Your Faith with Your Spouse
Pray for your marriage
Couples of faith usually pray together regularly for their marriage. Inviting God’s grace and guidance into the marriage strengthens their
relationship.
But spouses should also maintain their personal relationship with God and open their heart to Him in prayer as they enjoy His guidance and companionship.
Attend church together
Attending church regularly not only strengthens your marriage but boosts your health and longevity too, according to studies. Why? It’s because of the interpersonal relationships, along with trusting in God, one experiences when participating in a community of faith.
Take a leap of faith
Although finding one’s soulmate can be a leap of faith, trusting in God removes much of the uncertainty. And if the marriage loses some of its luster as the years pass, a trusting relationship with God helps keep the fires burning because there isn’t anything His grace can’t heal.
So, yes, although marriage is romantic, it’s deeply spiritual, too. Celebrating a genuine spiritual union allows you to truly enjoy the fullness of marriage as you and your partner grow together spiritually and emotionally, in your lifelong journey of loving each other for “better or worse.”
