A few weeks ago, I mentioned that a common complaint among couples is that their marriage is boring. So, I’ve been sharing fun ideas of things couples can do together.
When you think about it, companionship is one of the greatest perks of being married. Your spouse
is your buddy and best friend. And you get to discover and enjoy adventures with them for the rest of your life, such as these.
Hiking / Walking / Backpacking for Couples
Does the idea of hiking on a sunny, breezy trail miles away from civilization entice you?
Hiking is a
wonderful opportunity for uninterrupted time together and getting to know each other better. And nothing brings out personal weaknesses and strengths quite like navigating rocky terrain with a 20 pound pack on your back!
Just make sure you have the proper equipment before embarking on your hike. You might wish to discuss how you’ll handle common problems such as pack weight and fatigue, as
well as sharing chores so as to avoid tension or disagreements.
Lastly, it might be a good idea to leave a map at home with another couple so they can help find you in case of an unexpected mishap.
Scuba Diving for Couples
Perhaps you’re more of a water person and so
scuba diving is an appealing adventure. After all, maybe your spouse would make the perfect dive buddy, too.
Several companies offer Scuba diving excursions for beginners without the long hours of training, allowing you to "test" the waters.
The weightlessness and tranquility of the
underwater world make scuba diving one of the best ways to relax and decompress. You get to leave the world behind and escape to a relaxing environment that soothes your mind and muscles.
Camping for Couples
Many families enjoy camping. But camping, like most fun activities for couples, requires quite a bit of advance planning so as to minimize
conflict.
For starters, find a peaceful campsite with all the facilities you want or need to be comfortable. Depending on the campsite, you may or may not need a tent. If you bring a tent, please get one that doesn't require a NASA engineer and hours to set up.
Also, plan your meals
ahead of time so you're certain to pack everything you’ll need. And remember to bring marshmallows for roasting over the fire.
When you get married, your spouse becomes your partner in “crime.” So if there are any fun activities you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t had the time, find the time, and make life an enjoyable adventure with your best friend and
buddy.
