Make A Difference With Your Marriage

Published: Sat, 02/24/18

Hi ,

Wouldn’t it be great to make a difference by using your marriage as a force for good in a world that’s in so much need of grace and hope?

Here are some fun ways to make a difference that many couples overlook:

Baby Cuddling at Orphanages and Hospitals
Caretakers and nurses at orphanages, hospitals, rehab facilities and nurseries are often overworked.

They rarely have enough time to provide the warmth and touch that babies require to thrive.

Couples who love babies can volunteer as baby cuddlers and provide the nurturing and comfort these little ones need.

Pet Grooming at Animal Shelters
Animal shelters are always looking for people to bathe, groom, walk and cuddle rescued animals.

They are, in fact, one of the best places to volunteer for couples who are pet lovers.  As an alternative, you may open your house and offer foster care to a homeless pet.

Organizing Books at the Local Library
Volunteering at the local library is something book lovers will really enjoy.

Library patrons usually need help with organizing books and running events such as book fairs and signings. Although ebooks are all the rage, print isn’t dead just yet.

Teaching/Mentoring Kids at Your Local Church
Many of the folks who subscribe to these weekly tips already know how deeply rewarding this is.

Looking for a fun activity to add to your weekend routine? Consider teaching the bible to kids at your local church. If there ever was a time we needed practical spiritual instruction, it’s today.

Plus, volunteering at church is a great way to make new friends and enjoy cross-generational relationships.

Reading to the Elderly at Retirement Homes
Retirement homes are one of the absolute best places to volunteer.

Most senior residents have vision problems that prevent them from reading. So they would LOVE for someone to read a book or the local newspaper to them.

They might also also enjoy playing some of their favorite board games.

Cooking at a Soup Kitchen
There is usually a lot of work to be done at the soup kitchen including serving food, handing out drinks/ desserts, cleaning up and cooking.

If you’re  a couple who enjoys cooking, consider offering to help to the over-worked staff at your local soup kitchen.

The above list of places to volunteer is evidence that couples can spend time together while making a difference with their marriage in this world.

These fun activities are rewarding, and they will grow & strengthen your marriage.

Until next time, this is Mike Tucker and I want YOU to be mad about marriage!
