For Fun Couples

Published: Sat, 02/17/18

Hi ,

This week's tip is for couples who like to have fun. Somewhere along the way, marriage tends to get dull and boring for many because they forget to play and have fun.

Well, here’s a romantic twist on a favorite game we used to play as kids:The scavenger hunt. It's fun and easy.

It begins with a simple clue delivered via text message or in a note and ends with the big surprise.

To make the treasure hunt more fun, include as many clues and smaller surprises in between as you want.

Plan a romantic scavenger hunt…

The Hook

The first clue sets the mood for the entire hunt. So it needs to be interesting enough to “hook” your partner and get them excited about the big surprise.

The Puzzle

This is the most interesting part of the surprise. It includes a series of exciting clues and gifts to keep your loved one engaged until they find the final surprise.

Here are some sample scavenger hunt clues you can use:

* Check your email for the next clue.

* Call our favorite restaurant and ask for me.

* Look in your sock drawer for the next clue.

If the surprise will take place in your home, consider creating a trail of flower petals or candles and have it ready before your partner gets home so it’s the first thing they see when they walk through door.

From the door, the trail should lead to other rooms with other smaller gifts/surprises.

If you want to make the clues a bit more interesting, use songs or photos. For instance, you can use the song that you listened to on your first date and leave a note telling your spouse to meet you at that restaurant (if you still live in the area and it’s still open…)

You can also make a mix tape or create a playlist of songs with a different message or clue between each song.

Or you can keep it simple and just use a photo of the restaurant where you want your spouse to meet you.

Whatever you do, don’t make the puzzle so complex that it becomes frustrating and a big hassle to figure out.

Surprise!

This is the big payoff for all the “work” your spouse has done.

The surprise can include any number of romantic ideas, such as a massage, romantic dinner, movie or night at a hotel, camping trip, etc. It can also be tickets to a concert, a game or special weekend get away.

If you're a couple who still likes to have fun but you’re struggling for creative ideas for your next date night, consider giving a scavenger hunt a try!

Until next time, this Mike Tucker and I want YOU to be mad about marriage!
