Happy Marriage? Not Without This

Published: Sat, 01/27/18

Hi ,

Every marriage goes through tough times. Sometimes one or both spouses are the cause, sometimes not, depends on the spouse.

There are two types of people, basically:

1. Self-confident and proactive with strong self-esteem.

2. Self-doubting and reactionary with low self-esteem.

People with low self esteem have a tendency to sabotage their relationships and success.

With great love and compassion, be a force that builds your partner's self-confidence. Affirm and help them to see and acknowledge their intrinsic value. It’s the right thing to do and it creates a healthier, happier marriage.

How to Boost Your Self Confidence in Marriage

1. Be grateful.

Be grateful for your marriage regardless of the circumstances. Focus on the good. You'll see that things really aren't so bad after all.

2. Appreciate your spouse.
You'd be amazed at how many marriage problems this solves. Appreciation lets the other party know that they are more than enough in your eyes.

3. Smile.
A smile is often seen as a sign of approval. Smile and let your partner know they make you happy and that you actually LIKE them.

(In fact, when you smile, your body sends a message to your brain that you’re happy, which boosts self confidence.)

4. Develop your interests.
Being married doesn’t mean you stop living your life and give up on your dreams. Having kids does that (I'm just kidding!).

Maintain your hobbies and interests. The trick is finding the right balance between your individuality and marital responsibilities.

5. Look Good.

After saying "I do" some spouses say, "I'm done!" - and they tend to get a little too comfortable and lose their motivation to look their best for their partner.

It's important to acknowledge that your spouse married you for who you are as well as your looks (that's usually how it works anyway...).

So go ahead and wear those comfy sweat pants sometimes, but please, please dress nicely every once in a while – especially on date night.  You'll feel more attractive and confident.

Strive to stay in shape. It isn’t always easy with kids, and hormonal and metabolic changes that men and women experience as they...mature.

Eating right, exercising, proper supplementation, and getting your rest are all the more important as you add candles to your birthday cake.

At the end of the day, a healthy sense of self-worth is absolutely essential for having a healthy marriage.
